FAQs
-
I work primarily with high school students (grades 9-12) and college students (undergrad), though I work outside of these parameters on occasion. Most of my students are preparing for AP exams, working on college applications, or need help with coursework and writing improvement.
-
I offer online tutoring only via Zoom. Online sessions work just as well as in-person. I share my screen, you share yours, and we work through materials together in real-time.
-
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, though I also offer longer sessions for students working on longer projects or intensive exam prep. We can discuss what length works best for your needs during our initial consultation.
-
You can book directly through my scheduling link or the contact link to discuss availability. I typically respond within 24 hours.
-

Ideally, students start working with me at the beginning of the school year (September/October) for comprehensive preparation. However, I also work with students starting in the spring for focused exam prep. Even a few months or weeks of targeted work can significantly improve your score.
-
I don't make score guarantees because AP exams depend on many factors (your current knowledge, time available to prepare, effort you put in, etc.). However, I can tell you that most of my students see significant improvement in their practice test scores, and many achieve 4s and 5s on exam day.
-
It varies by student. Some students work with me weekly throughout the school year (20-30 sessions), while others come for intensive 6-8 week prep in the spring. During our first session, I'll assess your needs and recommend a plan.
-
The ideal time is summer before senior year (June-August). This gives you plenty of time to brainstorm, draft, and revise without the stress of senior year coursework. However, I also work with students in the fall; we just have tighter deadlines.
-
I help with:
Common App personal statement
Coalition App essay
UC Personal Insight Questions
School-specific supplemental essays
Scholarship essays
"Why this college?" essays
Honors college applications
-
No. My job is to help you write YOUR essay, one that sounds authentically like you. I'll guide you through brainstorming, help you find your story, give feedback on drafts, and teach you how to revise. But the essay needs to be your voice and your ideas.
-
Editing/proofreading means someone fixes your grammar and gives you back a corrected paper. Writing tutoring means I teach you how to structure arguments, develop paragraphs, create clear thesis statements, and analyze effectively, which are skills you'll use on every future assignment. I'm not here to just fix one essay; I'm here to make you a better writer.
-
Yes. This is one of the most common struggles. We'll work on translating your ideas into organized, clear prose, starting with structure and outlining before you even write, then building paragraphs that actually support your points.
-
Yes, but my goal isn't just to help you finish the assignment; it's to help you understand the material and build skills. We'll work through the assignment together, and I'll teach you strategies you can use next time.
